The Killarney Kingdom was written as an endeavor into trumpet music and, more specifically, trumpet ensemble music. The title was written based on the piece of art entitled “Killarney Lake,” a watercolor made by William Pars. The piece is an attempt to create a world beyond the image in the painting.

Snowfall over Rockingham County for Brass Quintet and Piano was written based on the poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. Coming from the same area as his family farm, his poetry is directly connected to the environment I grew up in.
